Gov. Scott announces funding to increase security at Jewish schools in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. —Violence and threats made at schools across the nation have also been felt by the Central Florida community.

In recent years, local Jewish day schools have received a number of threats.

Gov. Rick Scott on Wednesday went to an Orlando school to talk about additional money to help keep students safe.

Scott said $2 million will be put towards increasing security at more than 30 Jewish day schools across the state of Florida.

Experts said in 2015, there were 17 bomb threats to Jewish day schools and community centers throughout the state.

The governor also signed a new bill addressing companies that boycott Israel. The bill said a company that refuses to do business with Israel will not be able to do business with the state of Florida or local governments.
